Over the weekend of 31st July to 2nd August, Llantrisant Sub-Aqua took the opportunity to promote both their sport and their club at the Big Bite Event organised by Rhondda Cynon Taff Council and held in the beautiful Ynysangharad Park Pontypridd.
Using material provided by the Sub-Aqua Association the dive club set up stall in the Well Being Zone. Club members took it in turns to provide cover over the weekend. The event attracted 15000 visitors many of whom took time to visit the club stand to view dive videos – there were two machines running all day – ask dive related questions and pick up leaflets.

LASC intend running a series of try-a-dive nights later in the year and members of the public were given the opportunity to be entered into a draw for a free try-a-dive. At the end of the event the club had a list of almost 100 names, people who were interested in just ‘having a go’. They were also surprised at how many experienced divers in the area weren’t aware there was a dive club almost on their doorstep.

Club Secretary Phil. Dewhurst said:
"I’m sure as a result of our presence at the show we’ll see some new faces and hopefully sign up some new members. The event costs little to present and is a perfect platform to promote ourselves. This is our second time at the show and we already have plans to be back again next year." |
